Dr. Lewis ’50 and Ardeth (Kline) ’52 Smith

The Smiths had planned to wait for their estate plan to provide Ashland University with a wonderful 50 acre environmental preserve, Dayspring, in Coshocton County, where their family had enjoyed many memorable life experiences. However, in consultation with the Legacy Estate Programs personnel, they decided it would be more pleasurable for them and tax beneficial to gift the preserve during their lifetimes. Both they and their family can now share this wonderful habitat with the faculty and students of their alma mater. Biology, geology and environmental studies departments are thrilled with the new opportunities this addition brings to the “classroom.”
